Choosing support
Choosing a weight-management programme: look beyond the promise
When comparing weight-management programmes in Dubai, look for an explanation of how care fits your health and daily life, not just how quickly the scales might change. Before committing, ask for a clear assessment pathway, named responsibilities and follow-up.
General information for adults. Not a substitute for medical assessment.

Start with assessment, not a pre-selected product
Weight-management care can include nutrition, activity and behavioural support, with other treatments considered when appropriate. Your medical history and goals should shape the pathway. A sales conversation alone cannot determine suitability.
Ask what happens if the assessment shows that you need a different kind of care. A responsible answer should leave room for referral, postponement or a plan that does not include the product you originally enquired about.
Find out who does what
Programme support and medical prescribing are not the same role. Before paying, request the provider’s name and check the current professional licence through the relevant local regulator. This guide does not verify a particular programme or clinician for you.
- Who carries out the medical assessment, and who answers clinical questions between visits?
- Who helps adapt meals to your preferences, budget and family routine?
- How are concerns shared with your usual doctor, with your permission?

Test the plan against an ordinary week
Take one typical workday and one weekend day to the discussion. Where would meals, movement and appointments actually fit? If you travel often, work shifts or share family meals, ask the team to explain the alternatives before agreeing to a rigid schedule.
A gradual change that fits your week can be a more practical starting point than trying to change everything at once. Ask for one clearly described action and a way to discuss what made it difficult at the next review.
Put costs and claims in writing
Ask for the total expected cost and what is separate: assessment, tests, consultations, medicines if prescribed, and maintenance visits. Confirm cancellation terms and what happens if your clinician changes the plan. There is no verified price list on this guide.
Be cautious with guaranteed results, pressure to purchase immediately or claims of effortless rapid loss. If results are advertised, ask what was measured, over which period and whether people who stopped attending were included. A personal testimonial does not predict your outcome.

Ask what happens after the first phase
Before joining, ask who will review progress, when reviews take place and how the plan changes if it is hard to follow. Discuss health and function as well as weight: the goals that matter to you might include easier movement or managing an existing condition.
Leave the conversation with three things: the next appointment or review arrangement, a route for clinical concerns and the maintenance options. If those answers remain unclear, gather more information before making a commitment.
Common questions
Does a medical programme mean I will receive medicine?
No. Assessment may lead to lifestyle support, a different care pathway or a referral. A prescription is an individual clinical decision, not a standard entitlement in a package.
Can an online programme provide useful support?
It may, but check who provides feedback, how progress is reviewed and when an in-person assessment is needed. Convenience should not replace a clear safety and escalation process.
What should make me pause before paying?
Unclear provider details, no assessment process, hidden costs or a guaranteed rapid outcome deserve clarification. Ask for written answers and take time to consider them without pressure.

Questions before arranging an appointment?
Enquire about the next steps and availability. An enquiry does not confirm a booking or diagnosis and is not an emergency service.
